　＜コラム#1897＞「原理主義的キリスト教に飲み込まれる(？)中共」＜を読み＞ました。
　あの、私も日本人ですが、キリスト教原理主義です。日本は信仰の自由が認められている国ですが、私のように、日本生まれの日本育ちの日本在住のキリスト教原理主義は、戦前の日本が、キリスト教信者にしていたように、踏み絵を踏まされて、レイプやむごたらしい拷問に合わされて、仏教や神道への改宗を迫られたりするんですか？

　あなたが、何派かは存じ上げないけれど、私の言う原理主義的キリスト教徒（Evangelicals and Pentecostals）であるとしても、「的」抜きのキリスト教原理主義者でない限り、私の言う「排除」すべき対象ではありませんよ。
　そのメルクマールは、進化論を否定することを含め、聖書に書かれていることをすべて真実であるとあなたがお考えになっているかどうかです。
　
　ところで、「戦前の日本が、キリスト教信者に・・・踏み絵を踏まさ＜せ＞、レイプやむごたらしい拷問＜の目に遭わせ＞・・・、仏教や神道への改宗を迫＜っ＞た」については、聞いたことないけど、さしずめ、典拠はお持ちなんでしょうね？

A:今までのオフ会は正直遠方から時間を割いて参加したいと思える内容ではなかった。いっそ講演会を企画した方がいいのではないかと感じる。
　どうも皆さん、他の読者の話にはあんまり食指が動かないようですね。
　オフ会幹事団の皆さん、少なくとも次回のオフ会は、原点に戻って、1400頃から始め、私による「講演」を皮切りに、基本的に私を軸に読者との質疑応答、対話だけを行う形のものにしましょうかね。

　また、同会の04年分の収支報告書の収入欄には、同年10月に5000万円の寄付があったとの記載もなく、報告書の不記載にもなる。・・・」

　ゴールドヘーゲン（コラム#3599、3601、3609、3614）批判を展開したコラムが出ました。↓
　・・・Goldhagen now puts forth the idea that eliminationist violence is the main threat in the world today. In his view, eliminationism includes pretty much everything from actual genocides, such as the one in Rwanda, to the United States dropping the atom bomb on Japan, the dirty wars against the left in Chile and Argentina, South African apartheid and, currently, China’s occupation of Tibet and Islamist terrorist attacks. Goldhagen’s impatience with diplomats who dither over definitions of genocide is understandable. But by conflating so many incidents, movements and events — all of which are (or were) very bad, yet all of which are very different — he makes the eliminationist concept virtually meaningless. He’s like a doctor who thinks it doesn’t much matter whether you have cancer or AIDS. ・・・
　Goldhagen charges that, in “Eichmann in Jerusalem,” Arendt（アーレント） put forth an idea of robotic, cog-like perpetrators who could not be blamed for their actions. Exactly the opposite is true. Arendt insisted that Eichmann was, first and last, an individual man who was utterly responsible for everything he did. That is why she supported the death penalty that the Israeli court handed down. ・・・

　ゴールドヘーゲンの言う除去主義（eliminationism）とは、人種主義的暴力・・特定の「人種」に対する隔離を前提とする絶滅から抑圧まで・・であると私は受け止めていたのですが、このコラムニストが指摘する↑ように、それが仮に、「左翼」まで対象にした概念だとすると、確かに広すぎる感じは受けます。
　いずれにせよ、一番大事なポイントは、ホロコーストと原爆投下とを同じ概念で括るかどうかででしょう。
　ゴールドヘーゲンのアーレント批判に対するこのコラムニストによる反批判↑については、ある人物の行った行為を説明することと、その行為を罰するかどうかとは、次元が違う問題である、と私は思います。
　恐らくは、パシュトン人の二重スパイが手引きをしたのでしょうが、諜報戦で米国はタリバンに負けているのかもしれません。
　でも、もし本当にそうだとすると、対タリバン/アルカーイダ戦争で米国が勝てるわけないですね。↓

　ギリシャの経済財政事情のひどさについて、コラム#3737で触れたばかりですが、ギリシャを含むPiigs（！）諸国がEUを解体させかねない、とNYタイムスが警鐘を鳴らしています。↓

１　浮かぶ山：
　原理・・When superconductor（超伝導体）s are in the presence of a magnetic field（磁場）, they can float.・・・At the very beginning of the story, we are told that humans have come to Pandora to mine unobtanium. Unobtanium is the ultimate superconductor. ・・・On Pandora, however, entire mountains loaded with unobtanium float in the world’s massive magnetic field.
　形成・・the tectonics（構造地質学） behind how such mountains could form.　In effect, they crumble upward.・・・This happens because Pandora is not a planet（惑星） but a moon（衛星） of a gas giant（巨大ガス惑星） the size of Saturn（木星）・・・. Moons of gas giants are constantly tugged and deformed by the stresses of gravity.
２　衛星に生物？：small planets are hard to find. Instead, scientists have found gas giants like Saturn in the habitable zone around stars. Those planets are not inhabitable（棲息可能） ? but their moons could be.・・・The problem is that gas giants emit tremendous amounts of radiation（放射線）. The daily radiation on Jupiter’s Io, for instance, is 4,000 times the lethal dose.・・・The robust magnetic field created by Pandora’s superconductivity deflects the radiation.
３　発光生物：The oceans’ depths have a curious answer to sunlight, which has never been seen there. 　This is where Cameron’s decision to make Pandora a moon ? and not a planet ? comes in. What this means is that one day on a moon equals the time it takes to orbit its parent planet ? a long time.

　今回は、トルコがらみシリーズです。
　当初はトルコそのものの音楽を紹介することを目指したのですが、トルコ、文字通りの音楽暗黒地帯だったので諦めました。
　まずは、欧州の音楽に与えたトルコの影響からです。
　この場合、トルコと言っても、彼等が中央アジアに住んでいた頃ではなく、セルジューク・トルコでもなく、オスマントルコです。
　オスマントルコは、世界最初と言ってもよい、軍楽隊をジャニサリー（Janissary。新しい兵士の意味。サルタンの親衛隊。キリスト教徒の子供であった青年達で編成された
