http://www.bloomberg.co.jp/news/123-NV6QZY6K50XX01.html
http://news.infoseek.co.jp/article/newsphere_25724/

In past decades, foreign officials could speak with senior Chinese officials or aides and trust that those people were proxies for their leaders. The most famous example is Zhou Enlai, the Chinese premier under Mao, with whom Henry A. Kissinger secretly negotiated the United States-China rapprochement.
With Mr. Xi, those channels do not exist.・・・
The refusal of Mr. Xi’s inner circle to develop ties with Western officials is consistent with a fundamental belief that has become widespread in the system here — namely that Western ideas and influences will undermine the Communist Party and lead to a “color revolution.”

・・・Maisky admires Churchill, with whom he had carefully established a warm relationship as early as the mid-1930s, when the future prime minister was the nation’s main anti-appeasement voice. These efforts stood Maisky in good stead in the war years, when he had regular meetings with Churchill, who would sometimes summon him late at night to Downing Street. There, clad in a dressing gown and on one occasion looking as if he had had “a drop too much whisky”, Churchill would chew the fat with Maisky.

“Churchill is definitely growing old,” Maisky writes in February 1943. “Yesterday he lost the thread of our conversation several times and, turning to Eden, asked with impatience: ‘Remind me — what were we saying?’ I hope Churchill will last till the end of the war. It’s very important. England needs him. We need him too.”・・・

・・・Burke’s moral complexities also typified the philosopher-statesman of his times. He supported the right of resistance to tyranny but upheld the authority of empire. He was committed to the rights of conquest but deplored the “spirit of conquest”. He defended the rights of imperial sovereignty but condemned the standing policies of British colonialism and the East India Company.

Burke accepted the limitations of human knowledge and the volatility of individual judgment. Yet he was never hostile towards the bards of Enlightenment reason. Instead, as Bourke writes, he “saw himself as promoting enlightened ideals from within a sceptical Anglican tradition”. Rather than pure reason, Burke looked to artificial reason: arguments should proceed not from abstract norms, but “artificially” on the basis of experience and empirical fine-tuning.
Burke saw the limitations of human knowledge but he was never hostile towards Enlightenment reason

Beethoven Cello Sonata No. 3 in A major, Op. 69(1808年)(注) チェロ:Paul Tortelier ピアノ:Eric Heidsieck) 佳曲。
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFfGHUiuous
